Munich. Theresienwiese - Let's go to the Spring Festival 2024 - until May 5th, 2024. At the 58th Spring Festival there are festival tents, over 100 showmen, rides and stalls and on April 26th there will be a large brilliant fireworks display and on May 3rd the musical fireworks will delight the guests on the Theresienwiese in Munich. On April 28, 2024 from 11 a.m., folk musicians and traditional costume clubs will move to the festival grounds with horse teams and the Munich Kindl. We look forward to rustic entertainment with brass bands, Schuhplattler and Goaßlschnalzer and folk music in the festival tents. The beer prices are: a beer costs €12.80 this year (Festhalle Bayernland) and €13.80 (Hippodrome). Entry to the tents is free, reservations can be made on the festival tent websites - we have listed the music program below. In addition, when the weather is nice, a wheat beer garden invites you to enjoy a pint of Bavarian delicacies. On Tuesday, April 30th, a family afternoon with reduced prices is planned from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. And on Sunday, April 28th, from 11 a.m. we are looking forward to the day of customs with Bavarian music - so on the weekend get out your lederhosen and dirndls, the sun will come and with 20 degrees the Oktoberfest weekend at the spring festival will be a Bavarian pleasure.. .  Day of Bavarian Culture Customs on the Theresienwiese at the Munich Spring Festival

On April 28, 2024 from 11 a.m., folk musicians and traditional costume clubs will move to the festival grounds with horse teams and the Munich Kindl. We look forward to rustic entertainment with brass bands, Schuhplattler and Goaßlschnalzer and folk music in the festival tents or the street musicians.

100 Schausteller, zwei Festzelte, Riesenrad, Fahrgeschäfte, Schmankerl-Buden, Schießbuden und am 26. April das große Brilliantfeuerwerk und am 28. April (ab 11 Uhr) "Tag des Brauchtums"

Theresienwiese: Frühlingsfest, Bier im Festzelt, Blasmusik und Tradition zu Füßen der Bavaria (ENGLISH)

München. Theresienwiese  - Auf geht's zum Frühlingsfest 2024 -  bis 5. Mai 2024. Auf dem 58. Frühlingsfest gibt es Festzelte, über 100 Schausteller, Fahrgeschäften und Buden und am 26. April ein großes Brilliant-Feuerwerk und am 3. Mai erfreut das Musikfeuerwerk die Gäste auf der Theresienwiese in München. Am 28. April 2024  ab 11 Uhr ziehen Volksmusikanten und Trachtenvereine mit Pferdegespannen und dem Münchner Kindl auf das Festgelände. Freuen wir uns auf urige Unterhaltung mit Blaskapellen, Schuhplattlern und Goaßlschnalzern  und Volksmusik in den Festzelten. Die Bierpreise sind : a Maß kostet heuer 12,80 € (Festhalle Bayernland) und 13,80 € (Hippodrom). Der Eintritt in die Zelte ist frei, Reservierungen sind auf den Webseiten der Festzelte möglich - wir haben das Musikprogramm unten aufgeführt. Außerdem lädt ein Weißbiergarten bei schönem Wetter zu einer Halben mit bayerischen Schmankerln ein. Dienstag, der 30. April ist von 12 bis 19 Uhr wieder ein Familiennachmittag eingeplant mit vergünstigten Preisen. Und am Sonntag, den 28. April freuen wir uns ab 11 Uhr auf den Tag des Brauchtums mit bayerischer Musik - also am Wochenende Lederhosen und Dirndl raus, die Sonne kommt auch und bei 20 Grad wird das Wiesnwochenende auf dem Frühlingsfest ein bayerisches Vergnügen ... 15 Hamburg-Berlin-Classic / car Rally

 15th Hamburg-Berlin Classic Rally 2024 from May 2nd to 4th, 2024

 

This year, the 15th Hamburg-Berlin-Klassik" is rolling together with the "Classic Trophy Hamburg" in a rally from Berlin via Wolfsburg to Hamburg

 

The Autostadt in Wolfsburg is the stage destination on May 3rd for the around 100 participating teams / i.e. “meet and greet” at the MONDO ITALIANO racing legend Hans-Joachim Stuck, TV presenter Horst Lichter, racing driver Tim Schrick and Autostadt managing director Edith Gerhardt (GERMAN)

 Wolfsburg. It's rally time again! The “Hamburg-Berlin-Klassik” (HBK) will take participants through the north and east of the Federal Republic in 2024. The Hamburg-Berlin-Klassik" is taking place this year together with the "Classic Trophy Hamburg". Both rallies are hosted by HBK and led by Armin Schwarz. Organized by B&M Marketing together with the co-host Herzenssache, the now traditional rally will take place in 2024 of the Motorworld Manufaktur Berlin. The route of the 15th Hamburg-Berlin Classic Rally 2024 from May 2nd to 4th, 2024 goes from Motorworld Berlin, to Brandenburg (Havel), Magdeburg, Wolfsburg and after the short stop in Soltau we go to the destination "Thiesen Hamburg" and then we look forward to the celebration of the participants at the Süllberg Blankenese.

The Autostadt in Wolfsburg will be sending a strong team into the race for the 15th Hamburg-Berlin Classic Rally (from May 2nd to 4th, 2024):

 Racing legend Hans-Joachim Stuck drives a 139 hp Rallye Beetle 1302 (1970) from the ZeitHaus collection; The “drift king” and racing driver Tim Schrick starts in a yellow Karmann GF Buggy (1971), which from stage two is driven by TV presenter and author Horst Lichter. Also at the start is the managing director of the Autostadt, Edith Gerhardt, who is driving a mint green Volkswagen Golf I Cabriolet (1991) for the 50th anniversary of the Golf. Let's look forward to the approximately 800 kilometer long rally. The Autostadt with the theme park is a stage destination on May 3rd: “Meet and Greet” at MONDO ITALIANO

Around 100 teams will start at Motorworld in Berlin this year

The route leads from Brandenburg an der Havel and via Magdeburg to the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, where the second day of the rally ends. The finish line will delight guests with classic automobiles from around 2:45 p.m. The parking lot at the ServiceHaus will be transformed into a unique open-air museum.

Motorsport enthusiasts will look forward to the “meet and greet” with the Autostadt teams in the in-house restaurant MONDO ITALIANO. You can now look forward to unique autographs and souvenir photos.

The final stage starts on Saturday morning, May 4th, at 8 a.m

Zur 15. Hamburg-Berlin-Klassik-Rallye wird von der Autostadt in Wolfsburg (vom 2. bis zum 4. Mai 2024) ein starkes Team in das Rennen geschickt: 

 Rennsportlegende Hans-Joachim Stuck fährt in einem 139 PS starken Rallye-Käfer 1302 (1970) aus der ZeitHaus-Sammlung; der „Driftkönig“ und Rennfahrer Tim Schrick startet in einem gelben Karmann GF Buggy (1971), welcher ab Etappe zwei von TV-Moderator und Buchautor Horst Lichter geführt wird. Mit am Start ist die Geschäftsführerin der Autostadt, Edith Gerhardt, die zum 50 Jahre-Golf-Jubiläum einen mintgrünen Volkswagen Golf I Cabriolet (1991) steuert. Freuen wir uns auf die rund 800 Kilometer langen Rallye. Die Autostadt mit dem Themenpark ist am 3. Mai ein Etappenziel: „Meet and Greet“ am MONDO ITALIANO

Die Zieleinfahrt wird die Gästen ab circa 14.45 Uhr mit automobilen Klassikern begeistern. Der Parkplatz am ServiceHaus wird sich in ein einzigartiges Open-Air-Museum verwandeln. 

Motorsportbegeisterte werden sich auf das „Meet and Greet“ mit den Teams der Autostadt im Hauseigenen Restaurant MONDO ITALIANO freuen. Freuen Sie sich jetzt schon auf einmalige Autogramme und Erinnerungsfotos.

Traditional white sausage breakfast as a cultural asset

 

"Weisswurst" - white sausage with sweet mustard, a pretzel and a wheat beer are a breakfast classic in Munich - Bavarians love savory foods

Weisswurst is a cultural asset in Bavaria!!! (GERMAN)

 

Munich - a cosmopolitan city with a heart! ... the food also has to be hearty. A must: traditional white sausage breakfast in Munich. In the Hofbräuhaus (Platzl 9, 80331 M.), even the locals have a Oktoberfest feeling. But please: Dear guests of the city of Munich, do not order ketchup with your Weißwurst and stick to the Weißwurstverzerr etiquette, which we would like to present below. Because the national dish, which is traditionally only served until 12 p.m., is a cultural asset!!! The real Bavarian white sausage breakfast also needs a pretzel, delicious sweet mustard and a nice, fresh wheat beer (alcohol-free is also available) - sometimes parsley and radishes are served with it. If you want, you can also order an Obazda. Incidentally, wheat beer is a good basis for the white sausage breakfast here, because fat lubricates the stomach and the pretzel absorbs the alcohol.

If you want to try out original Bavarian food, we recommend typical dishes such as Leberkäs, pork knuckle, Bavarian potato dumplings, Obazda, Bavarian meat patties, Bavarian cabbage and Bavarian plum datschi with a mug of coffee. Of course one of these dishes every day and not all at once!!! By the way, there is also a traditional artisan breakfast or “second breakfast” consisting of a butter pretzel or a liver loaf roll. Recently also in great demand as Leberkäs kebab or artisan kebab.

Let’s stick with the white sausage breakfast first

There is a Bavarian commandment for the Weißwurst in this country: “Eat the Weißwurst before 12 o’clock!” According to old custom, she is not allowed to hear the twelve o'clock ringing from the church tower. The reason for this? In the past, the white sausage was prepared fresh in the morning and immediately sold raw.

So please make sure to eat before lunch!

BUT: The Augustiner Bräustuben (Landsberger Straße 19, 80339 M.) have longer Weißwurst serving times - because in the Augustiner Bräustuben the Weißwurst is served until 1 p.m.

How is a white sausage in Munich?

If we dare to enjoy a white sausage, then the following must be taken into account:

Traditionally, order Munich white sausages with sweet mustard, pretzels and wheat beer as a snack in the morning.

The white sausage is covered in a natural casing. You can eat it, but it's a tough shell that's easier to peel off. In restaurants and festival halls, the sausages are served in a bowl of hot water, otherwise the skin would discolor as it cools on the plate. Skinning the hot sausage is not that easy! But Bayern have their own methods:

 

1. A real Bavarian zuzelt

This means that they carefully suck out the inside of the sausage and the edible portions from the skin that is opened at one end! So take the white sausage with your hand and chop it. The inside of the sausage, the meat, is pushed out of the intestine using negative pressure, the tongue and very gentle use of the teeth and ends up directly in the mouth. Of course, the sausage is first dipped in the sweet mustard. It's not that easy to zip without losing your story; Because if you bite too hard, this method looks unaesthetic or, better yet, unappetizing for the table company.

2. Cut longitudinally with a fork and a sharp knife

Because it's not that easy - and doesn't seem so appetizing to some people, you can also make a longitudinal cut with a sharp knife and fold the casing away to the side with the fork! Please do everything without putting your hands on the sausage. Then we remove the sausage halves! Now the sausage meat can be cut into fine pieces and enjoyed with sweet mustard.

3. The cross cut of the white sausage is a noble eating option

The cross cut is a little more complicated and is always admired:

We cut the sausage diagonally and free the meat from its tough skin with a twisting motion! The latter remains on the mustard plate in a diamond pattern.

You will gain admiration with this skill. But that is not that easy!

By the way, the best white sausages are available in the Sendlinger Gaststätte Großmarkthalle (Kochelseestraße 13, 81371 M.)

By the way, in the “Gaststätte Großmarkthalle” inn in Munich we find Wallner, who, as the innkeeper, is also jokingly called “the white sausage pope of Munich” by his guests. Connoisseurs and sausage fans come here just for the white sausage breakfast, where the white sausages are made fresh in-house every day.

On the history of the white sausage from Munich:

The Munich white sausage was - so the story goes - invented by the inn butcher Joseph Moser in the “Zum Ewigen Licht” inn on Munich's Marienplatz in 1857 on Carnival Sunday - it was a faulty bratwurst.

Ein Muß: Traditionelles Weißwurstfrühstück in München

 

Weißwurst mit süßem Senf, einer Breze und einem Weißbier sind ein Frühstücksklassiker in München - Bayern lieben Herzhaftes

Weißwurst ist in Bayern  ein Kulturgut!!! (ENGLISH)

 

München - Weltstadt mit Herz! ... auch bei der Speise muss es Herzhaft sein. Im Hofbräuhaus (Platzl 9, 80331 M.) kommt selbst bei Einheimischen ein Wiesngefühl auf. Aber bitte: Liebe Gäste der Stadt München, bestellt keinen Ketchup zur Weißwurst und haltet euch an die Ettikette des Weißwurstverzerrs, die wir unten gerne vorstellen. Denn bei dem Nationalgericht, das traditionell nur bis 12 Uhr serviert wird, handelt es sich um ein Kulturgut!!! Das echte bayerische Weißwurstfrühstück braucht auch eine Breze, den leckeren süßen Senf und ein schönes, frisches Weißbier (gibt es auch Alkoholfrei) - manches Mal werden Petersilie und Radieschen dazu serviert. Wer möchte bestellt auch einen Obazda. Weißbier ist übrigens hier eine gute Grundlage für das Weißwurstfrühstück, denn: Fett schmiert den Magen und die Breze saugt den Alkohol auf.

Wer original Bayerisches Essen ausprobieren möchte, dem seien auch typische Gerichte wie Leberkäs, Schweinshaxn, Bayerische Kartoffelknödel, Obazda, Bayerische Fleischpflanzerl, Bayerisch Kraut und zum Haferl Kaffee dann Bayerischer Zwetschgendatschi empfohlen. Natürlich an jedem Tag eines dieser Gerichte und nicht alles auf einmal!!! Übrigens gibt es auch ein traditionelles Handwerkerfrühstück oder „zweites Frühstück“ bestehend aus einer Butterbrezen oder einer Leberkässemmel. Neuerdings auch als Leberkäs-Döner beziehungsweise Handwerker-Döner heiß begehrt.

Bleiben wir zunächst beim Weißwurstfrühstück

Für die Weißwurst gibt es hierzulande ein Bayerisches Gebot: "Die Weißwurst vor 12 Uhr essen!" Sie darf nach altem Brauch das Zwölf-Uhr- Läuten vom Kirchturm nicht hören. Der Grund dafür? Früher wurde die Weißwurst frisch in der Früh zubereitet und sofort roh weiter verkauft. 

Also bitte unbedingt vor dem Mittag essen! 

ABER: Die Augustiner Bräustuben (Landsberger Straße 19, 80339 M.) haben längere Weißwurstservierzeiten - denn in den Augustiner Bräustuben wird die Weißwurst sogar bis 13 Uhr serviert.

Wie ist man in München eine Weißwurst?

Wagen wir uns an den Genuß einer Weißwurst, dann ist folgendes zu beachten:

Münchner Weißwürste also traditionell mit süßem Senf, Brezn und Weißbier am Vormittag als Brotzeit bestellen. 

Die Weißwurst wird von einem Naturdarm eingehüllt. Man könnt ihn zwar mitessen, aber es handelt sich hier um eine zähe Hülle, die man besser abzieht. Die Würste werden in den Gaststätten und Festhallen in einer Schüssel mit heißem Wasser serviert, da sich die Haut beim Abkühlen auf dem Teller sonst vorab verfärben würde. Das Enthäuten ist bei der heißen Wurst garnicht so leicht! Aber die Bayern haben da so ihre Methoden:

1. Ein echter Bayer zuzelt

Das bedeutet, dass sie das Wurstinnere vorsichtig und ihn essbaren Portionen aus der an einem Ende geöffneten Haut heraussaugen! Die Weißwurst also mit der Hand nehmen und zuzeln. Das Innere der Wurst, das Brät wird dabei mit Unterdruck, mit der Zunge und mit ganz sanftem einsatz der Zähne aus dem Darm gedrückt und landet direkt im Mund. Vorher wird die Wurst natürlich in den süßen Senf getunkt. Zuzeln ist nicht so einfach, ohne sein Geschicht zu verlieren; denn, wenn man zu fest beißt wirkt dies Methode auch unästhetisch oder besser für die Tischgesellschaft unappetitlich.

2. Längsschnitt mit einer Gabel und einem scharfen Messer

Weil das nicht so einfach ist - und manch einem auch nicht so appetitlich erscheint, kann man mit einem scharfen Messer auch einen Längsschnitt anlegen und die Hülle seitlich mit der Gabel wegklappen! Alles bitte ohne die Hände an die Wurst zu legen. Dann lösen wir die Wursthälften heraus! Nun kann das Brät in feine Stücke geschnitten und mit süßem Senf genossen werden.

3. Der Kreuzschnitt der Weißwurst ist eine noble Verzehrvariante

Der Kreuzschnitt ist etwas komplizierter und findet immerwieder Bewunderung:

Wir schneiden die Wurst schräg an und befreien das Brät mit einer Drehbewegung von seiner zähen Haut! Letztere bleibt als Rautenmuster auf dem Senf-Teller liegen. 

Sie werden mit dieser Fertigkeit Bewunderung ernten. Aber: das ist nicht so einfach!

Die besten Weißwürste gibt es übrigens in der Sendlinger Gaststätte Großmarkthalle (Kochelseestraße 13, 81371 M.) 

Im Wirtshaus "Gaststätte Großmarkthalle" finden wir in München übrigens den Wallner, der als Wirt auch spaßeshalber von seinen Gästen „Weißwurstpapst Münchens“ genannt wird. Kenner und Wurstfans kommen extra nur zum Weißwurstfrühstück hierher, wo die Weißwürste sogar im Haus täglich frisch hergestellt werden.

 Zur Geschichte der Weißwurst aus München:

Die Münchner Weißwurst wurde - so erzählt man - vom Wirtsmetzger Joseph Moser im Gasthaus „Zum Ewigen Licht“ am Münchner Marienplatz im Jahr 1857 am Faschingssonntag  erfunden – sie war ein Bratwurst-Fehlfabrikat.

Six Munich beers you should try! ... So off to Munich! ... - the beautiful city on the Isar is always worth a visit with its beer festivals...

Munich has six major breweries: Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Löwenbräu, Hofbräu, Paulaner and Spaten (GERMAN)

 

Munich. In the heart of the city, the beer in a beer garden changes every five to six weeks: in the beer garden on the Viktualienmarkt, visitors can enjoy a different Munich beer in the Stehausschank or in the beer garden every few weeks. You can also enjoy all six types of beer at the Munich Oktoberfest on the Theresienwiese, in the inns and beer gardens or in the traditional brewery tents at the well-known folk festivals. All you can say again and again is: a warm welcome to the beautiful cosmopolitan city of Munich... or as the Bavarian in the beer tent says to the tourists: "Sit here, then you'll have more!" Augustiner-Bräu - The Augustiner Brewery is the oldest beer brewery in Munich

The brewery was founded in 1328, making it the oldest still existing brewery in Munich. The Augustiner-Bräu always avoided advertising and always used a bulbous bottle, while other breweries used the narrow NRW bottle for bottling. The Augustiner Brewery is located in the south of the railway tracks on Landsberger Straße at Hackerbrücke. Anyone who drives by knows the long brick wall.

But back to history: the monks of the Augustinian Order produced the first beer in 1328 that was popular throughout Bavaria. The "Augustiner" was privatized in 1817. The Augustiner Hell is still used today as a label decoration for the bulbous Augustinian monks.

The Hacker-Pschorr brewery was founded in 1417, in the late Middle Ages

Hacker-Pschorr beer was first mentioned in a document in 1417. Back then, the brewery was already located on Sendlinger Straße not far from the town hall (Old Town Hall - today the toy museum). Today the “Altes Hackerhaus” restaurant is still located here.

From the 18th century onwards, the Munich couple Joseph Pschorr and Maria Theresia Hacker led their COMPANY to the top of the Munich breweries. Due to the division of inheritance, the Hackerbrauerei and Pschorrbrauerei split up and two types of beer were created. Incidentally, since 1972, brewing has been carried out again under the double name "Hacker-Pschorr".

The former brewery site was south of the Hackerbrücke. Today Hacker-Pschorr belongs to the Paulaner Barauerei Group. The 13 beers from Hacker-Pschorr, some of which are only brewed seasonally, are bottled exclusively in swing-top bottles.

Löwenbräu was founded behind the Frauenkirche in the Löwengrube

It was first brewed in the Middle Ages (late 14th century). The title "Löwenbräu" as a trademark appears in the documents for the first time in 1746 (Munich beer brew directory). In the 19th century, the Brey family brewery became the largest brewery in Munich. The Löwenbräu festival beer later came from Nymphenburger Straße, where we can still find the Löwenbräukeller with a beer garden on Stiglmaierplatz. By the way, the famous strong beer festival and the “Night of the Costume” are big hits here.

Since 1997, the Spaten-Franziskaner-Löwenbräu Group has operated under the brewing group Interbrew, now InBev.

The Hofbräu from the internationally famous Hofbräuhaus am Platzl in Munich

The song “There is a Hofbräuhaus in Munich…” is world-famous and promotes the beer from the heart of the city. The beer has been brewed since 1589, when William V founded his ducal brewery. The brewery has been located on Innere Wiener Straße since the 19th century, where the spectacular, famous Hofbräukeller with a fabulous beer garden attracts visitors.

In 1939 the Hofbräu came into state hands. The Staatliches Hofbräuhaus brewery in Munich is probably the best-known beer brand and was once founded in the Alter Hof. The well-known Hofbräuhaus on Platzl not far from the Viktualienmarkt is now one of the most important sights. Brewing is now taking place just outside the city, near the exhibition grounds.

The Paulaner Brewery with the monk "Brother Barnabas"

The Paulaner Brewery was founded by monks in the Au district of Munich. The year was 1634 when the monks of the Paulaner Order brewed a beer that went down in history as the Paulaner festival beer and is still served at the Oktoberfest today.

What was initially only enjoyed by the monks soon flowed down the throats of beer lovers in Munich as bock beer based on Brother Barnabas' old recipe. The headquarters of the Paulaner brewery moved a few years ago (2016) from the famous Giesinger Nockherberg, known for the strong beer festival with the famous politician Derblecken (ridicule), to Munich-Langwied.

The brewery's headquarters are still in the Au on Ohmüllerstrasse and above is the Paulaner am Nockherberg, a popular beer garden and venue for the annual strong beer festival with a speech and a musical play. The Paulaner Brewery is one of the sponsors of FC Bayern Munich.

Spatenbräu - The “Spaten” brand tapped the first “Münchner Hell”

The famous Spaten brewery also came into being in the Middle Ages: founded in 1397. It all started in Neuhauser Gasse. Then the brewery moved to Marsstrasse - today the administrative headquarters - Like Löwenbräu and Franziskaner, the Spaten brewery belongs to the international beer group AB InBev.

Spaten brought out “Münchner Hell” in 1894, which quickly became a bestseller. There is now a visitor museum on the former brewery site and the beer is brewed in the former brewhouse of Löwenbräu AG.
